Located on the outskirts of the London Borough of Bromley, Darrick Wood School is an over-subscribed large mixed comprehensive secondary school with a popular Sixth Form. The School is proud to house a Centre for the Deaf, with 20 students fully integrated into the main school and receiving specialist tuition within the Centre. Outside school hours, the School opens its Sports Centre, 3G pitch and other facilities to the local community.

Visitors to Darrick Wood School frequently comment on pupils’ excellent behaviour, their positive attitudes to each other, to their teachers and to their learning. They are also struck by the clean, well presented, modern facilities and the wide range of extra-curricular opportunities offered. The School’s results at GCSE and A level and numerous accolades and awards provide further evidence of the School’s excellent reputation. The School’s approach to education is encapsulated in what is known as The Darrick Wood Way, which incorporates its core values of respect, responsibility and honesty within a framework of high expectations, everyone working together to achieve the best possible outcomes. In accordance with the School’s motto, Revereor Vitam, all in the School are expected to show a reverence for life.

Investment in the very latest technologies and in the professional development of staff ensure Darrick Wood continually challenges itself to seek new ways to prepare pupils for life in a rapidly changing world. One example is DWS Audio. This award winning podcast service, available on the School’s website, includes a series featuring a fictional secondary school, Danson Wood High. All the content is created by Darrick Wood School world class students and has won several national and international awards. Another example is the School’s investment in the summer of 2022 into state-of-the-art interactive screens for all classrooms.

Darrick Wood School’s World Class students successfully achieved WCSQM reaccreditation in 2021
Student Bea Clarin was awarded runner up in the Workplace category at the WCSQM Symposium in July 2021
