Isla Thomas, Year 10
I communicate effectively
Isla volunteers at her local brownie pack as part of her Silver DofE Award and has continued to do so via Zoom during Lockdown. Isla has shown excellent communication skills, understanding the needs of her Brownies. She communicates well with the Brownies and other Leaders – thinking of ideas for activities, planning and leading them with the pack.
Isla also has a great relationship with her neighbours – she organised activities and delivered baked goods to elderly neighbours who were struggling getting to the shops and with loneliness during the pandemic.
Head of Year 10, Mrs Jones, commented “Isla is an absolute superstar! Her voluntary work has always amazed me. So much so, I nominated her for a Rotary Club Award when she was in Year 7 (which she won). It is still one of the highlights of my time as Year Leader. The world needs more Islas!”
Congratulations to Isla for achieving World Class Community characteristics.
