WCSQM Awards Ceremony 2019, hosted by Cambridge University, 13th December 2019

500 World Class school leaders, staff, students and their parents came together on 13th December for our annual evening of awards and celebration, held this year at the prestigious Lady Mitchell Hall, at Cambridge University, and hosted by DPR.

This year’s event featured a range of pre-ceremony workshops and talks to help schools get the most from their visit, including an essay writing workshop from Dr Phil Knox, Faculty of English at Cambridge University, a session on life at Cambridge University led by Dr Glen Rangwala, Director of Admissions Trinity College, and a talk by one of our World Class lead schools, St Mary’s College, on how to capitalise on World Class accreditation.

The awards ceremony celebrated the accreditation of our 2019 cohort of World Class primary and secondary schools, with students taking to the stage to collect their plaque, to much applause from their teachers and peers. World Class students were also honoured and awarded across the following categories:

  • Essay writing competition winners and commendations
  • 2019 individual student achievement award
  • 2019 qualifying student assessors
  • The winning team and outstanding ambassador students from this year’s assessment centre
  • The World Class school of 2019

Entertainment for the evening was provided by the very talented students from three of our World Class schools. We’d like to thank the following for their outstanding musical performances that helped make the evening such a success, and had the audience demanding an encore:

  • Tudor Grange Academy’s jazz band
  • Harris Primary Academy Coleraine Park’s steel pan band
  • Humberston Academy’s GLEE choir
