Hitchin Girls’ School is a high achieving single sex, all-ability school serving the local community with 1320 students on roll, including 315 in the Sixth Form. In June 2013 we received an Outstanding rating from Ofsted.
The school occupies a pleasant site on the top of Windmill Hill with its own playing fields and woods. As well as general classrooms, we have specialist teaching areas for Art and Design, Food, Textiles, Graphics and Resistant Materials, ICT and Business Technology, Drama, Mathematics, Music and Science.
In February 2018 a new Sports Hall, containing a four court hall, dance studio and small fitness suite was officially opened by former HGS student and Commonwealth Games (2018) Paralympian, Maria Verdeille. In September 2018, a new 10 classroom teaching block was opened to support the expansion of the school, along with enlarged dining space and a further science laboratory.
We are a fully inclusive school where the individual development of our students is paramount. We encourage them to develop independence and resilience in their studies to enable them to be lifelong learners. The very highest standards of conduct, respect, effort and personal attainment are our goal for all members of our school community.

I am taking the NPQSL course at the moment and I used World Class Schools as an example of how wonderful it is to give our students opportunities and how great the WCSQM application process is.
Caroline Sehested | WCSQM Associate, St Anne’s Catholic High School for Girls, London
World Class Quality Mark status has given Finham Park School an enviable reputation nationally and internationally, enabling us to recruit the best, most dynamic staff and be a school that teachers and students are proud to be a part of. The opportunities World Class status brings enable us to influence, lead others and grow as a school community as we share excellence with the very best practitioners both at home and internationally.
Chris Bishop | Headteacher, Finham Park School, Coventry
Thank you so much for the World Class School celebration event yesterday, it was so well organised and I came away with a lot of information and great sharing of best practise. It was also lovely to see the other schools' hard work and projects.
