Our Individual Student Achievement Award was launched in 2017 to identify and celebrate students who have shown exemplary and World Class skills, competencies and behaviour over the course of the year. Students participating in the accreditation process, either through their school’s application or as a student assessor, are eligible to be nominated by other schools.

We have been delighted to award the Individual Student Achievement of the Year Award to:

Chloe (centre) with Lara Hall (right), the 2018 Individual Achievement winner who presented Chloe with her award, and all the award nominees, at the 2019 Awards Ceremony

2019

Chloe Smith, formerly of The Ruth Gorse Academy

Chloe received her award following an inspirational two years in which she took part in the assessment process on behalf of her school, trained to be a qualified WCSQM assessor herself and successfully completed her first assessment centre as an assessor, wrote a thought-provoking blog for our website, used her IT and design skills to design the materials for the 2019 Symposium and joined the Alumni Association Committee, where she continues to drive the Association forward with her motivation and leadership skills. In recognition of Chloe’s extraordinary passion and commitment to making the opportunities offered by WCSQM available to as many students as possible, WCSQM nominated Chloe for the Diana Award. Chloe was awarded the 2020 Diana Roll of Honour for Yorkshire and the Humber in recognition of her hard work and dedication.

Since being awarded the Individual Achievement Award in 2019, Chloe used the personal reference she received from

WCSQM Director Miranda Perry to support her application for a place at America’s prestigious MIT, and we’re very proud to announce this place was awarded, on a full scholarship basis.

On offering her the place, the MIT Admissions Committee said, “You stood out as one of the most

talented and promising students in one of the most competitive applicant pools in the history of the institute. Your commitment to personal excellence and principled goals, even during a year full of challenges and disruption, has convinced us you

will both contribute to our diverse community and thrive in our academic environment.”

We wish Chloe all the very best of luck in her academic and life endeavours.

2018

Lara Hall, St Albans Girls’ School

Lara is a qualified assessor for WCSQM. This year, she had several changes to shadow assessors and challenges within her project team and she dealt with all of these with a high degree of professionalism and didn’t let anything phase her! She met all key deadlines; provided fantastic support for all her assessors quickly re-establishing a team ethos with each change. She is truly World Class!
