St Anthony’s Girls’ Catholic Academy

St. Anthony’s Girls’ Catholic Academy has 1350 students and is located in Sunderland.  We were founded in 1904 and in 2014 become a Teaching School.  We offer thirty-five Advanced level courses, with our partner school, St. Aidan’s.  We have two historic specialisms, Languages and Technology.  Our girls are confident, creative and give much to the local and wider community through volunteering and charitable fund-raising.  They involve themselves in many teams, competitions and educational visits.  We have strong links with schools in Swaziland, India and China and a university in Sweden. 

Our school is an outward-facing and delights in following the progress of students to university and the world of work.  Our alumni are many and varied and include the Right Honourable Lady Justice Kathryn Thirlwall D.B.E and Lauren Laverne of BBC Radio. 

We have been part of the formation of generations of strong female leaders working in a host of careers.  Often four or more generations have chosen to attend our school.  Everywhere you go you will find a “St. Anthony’s girl” working in our home city, our country or across the globe and often still in contact with her school friends and community, wherever life takes her.
