St Stephen’s Catholic Primary School
St Stephen’s is a successful school in the London Borough of Bexley where we strive to make certain that every child reaches their potential academically, morally, spiritually and physically. We endeavour to ensure every child leaves St Stephen’s as a successful, confident and responsible individual, equipped with all the skills needed to continue on their future learning journey.
As an outstanding school, we use pupil voice to develop a creative and tailored curriculum to meet the needs of all individuals; this ensures pupils start at their unique personal levels. Underpinning this, is a culture of growth mindset and resilience, which is developed through regular coaching and the embedded use of higher-order questioning. We work in partnership with other schools to share our good practice and lead development for all children to receive a high quality education.
The children are well-supported both academically and holistically and we have been recognised by the London Mayor for our work in this area. We work alongside our author in residence, delivering weekly creative writing workshops that inspire the children and raise attainment. We provide a diverse range of sporting activities such as trampolining, martial arts and cycling, as well as investing in the arts with regular productions for the whole school community and a thriving orchestra and choir who perform at landmark locations across London. The children have access to a variety of extra-curricular opportunities to enrich all aspects of their learning including residential trips, Forest School and child-led charity support and fundraising events. This culminates in enhancing the children’s physical and emotional well-being, which is further supported by our programme of personalised therapeutic sessions.
By addressing individual needs through an enriching and balanced curriculum, we will continue to develop well-rounded, independent members of society with a good work ethic, high aspirations and true St Stephen’s ambassadors that we can be exceptionally proud of as they make their way in the world.
