UTC Reading

UTC Reading is a University Technical College for 14-18 year-olds based in Reading (Berkshire) which was rated Outstanding in all categories by Ofsted in 2015 and also achieved the World Class Schools Quality Mark in 2020. 

The school specialises in Computer Science and Engineering and is a world-class centre of excellence in these subjects, alongside a broad and balanced curriculum, backed by leading companies in these industries. 

The curriculum is built around a STEM education, where pupils study for high-quality technical qualifications alongside GCSEs and A Levels. 

The school offers students the opportunity to focus their education at the age of 14 or 16, so that when they progress from education into employment they are well prepared for the world of work. Using the latest technology, students learn through projects and practical activities. They work closely with our industry partners on projects and challenges, where they develop important work-related skills.  

With experiences such as our Pipeline Programme, where students spend a significant period of time working with a set employer, or our Combined Cadet Force opportunities, our students leave school with a variety of experiences to put on their CVs that make them stand out from the crowd when applying for an apprenticeship, university or employment.

UTC Reading is an academy of Activate Learning Education Trust, a Multi Academy Trust (MAT) established by Activate Learning.
