St Anne’s in Enfield awarded World Class Schools Quality Mark

St Anne’s Catholic High School for Girls has been awarded the World Class Schools Quality Mark (WCSQM). St Anne’s is the first school in the London Borough of Enfield to have gained this prestigious accreditation.

The World Class Schools Quality Mark is awarded to schools in the UK and internationally whose students have demonstrated World Class skills and competencies by successfully completing an assessment process. There are two stages of assessment, ‘A Day in the Life of…’ video, and the Assessment Centre. WCSQM described the accreditation as ‘the new standard in education for schools that have gone beyond the limits of the national inspection framework’.

A team of students at St Anne’s developed a compelling case for accreditation through detailed auditing of the school’s capabilities and video submissions in support of their application. As part of the audit, they produced a film which featured interviews with staff and students and demonstrated daily life at St Anne’s Catholic High School for Girls.

The team also worked with students from two other schools on a project where St Anne’s students held key roles of responsibility such as Safeguarding Officer, Risk Assessment Officer, Technology Analyst and Communications Officer. All of this was completed during a challenging year affected by COVID-19 and whilst the students were studying for their GCSE courses.

Speaking about taking part in the assessment process, one Year 11 student said, ‘I have developed skills I didn’t know I was capable of’. Another student in Year 10 said, ‘The support from our school community has been fantastic’.

In a joint statement, Headteacher Mrs E Loveland and Lead Practitioner of KS4, Miss C Sehested, said:

‘We have been awarded this as an acknowledgement that our students are excellent learners, show exceptional leadership skills, outperform others, are committed to achieve, are active participants in our school community and aim to be the best in their field, in terms of higher education and employment.’

The award ceremony is available to watch here.#
