Alexandre Mendes Da Silva, Year 6

I learn by being a role model

“Alex had the idea of wanting to run an Invention Fair for students during science week.

He wrote a proposal and then confidentially pitched his idea to the Senior Leadership Team.

He then launched the idea to the whole school in an assembly, helped to plan and organize a timeline, sharing information of the event with our school community on our school social media and newsletters.

He encouraged all his peers to take part and provided motivation and ideas in the run up to the event.

He helped to choose the prizes and was the lead judge on the judging panel and conducted himself with integrity, professionalism and fairness.

Alex displayed amazing thinking, communication and leadership skills from taking his initial ideas and seeing it through to a highly successful event, making him a wonderful role model throughout school. This was such a successful, enjoyable competition that the Invention Fair will now become a regular feature in our annual events calendar.

We are so proud of Alex, in our school where we continually champion and celebrate pupil leadership and grow role models, we feel that he embodied all of these characteristics and more.”
